Normalpapiere sind holzfreie Papiere, die überwiegend aus Zellulose bestehen. Ergänzend beinhalten sie zur Herstellung der benötigten Papiergüte aber auch chemische Inhaltsstoffe, wie z.B. Leime, Füllstoffe und Aufheller innerhalb gesetzlicher Grenzwerte. Ein Hautkontakt mit Normalpapier-Bonrollen ist unbedenklich.
Die Thermo-Beschichtung dient dazu, unter Wärmeeinwirkung ein Bild zu erzeugen. Die unterschiedlichen Arten von Beschichtungen enthalten im Rahmen gesetzlicher Grenzwerte Inhaltsstoffe, die bei Hautkontakt oder beim Einatmen allergische oder andere gesundheitliche Reaktionen hervorrufen können. Zu diesen möglichen Inhaltsstoffen gehören Bisphenole sowie Farb- und Klebstoffe bzw. Bindemittel.
